Equity

Projects are designed to provide access and challenge for all students to engage in meaningful work through a wide variety of perspectives, skills, knowledge, content, and products. Focus on authenticity, engagement, and diverse thinking ensure that every student learns deeply.

Authentic Work

Students learn content knowledge and skills in the context of an authentic project or problem and create a public-facing product. Project work is important and authentic, closely linked to students' passions and to real-world needs and experiences.

Personalization

Projects are designed to tap into students' and teachers' personal questions, values, and passions. Students and educators see themselves and their communities in their work. Projects elevate student "voice and choice" as students engage in deep inquiry and reflection.

Collaborative Design

Projects are designed to include student, parent, and community voices in the co-design of educational experiences. Students are involved deeply in the project at all levels, including planning and assessment. Interdisciplinary projects build meaningful learning across the curriculum.
