Hi! My name is Ella.
[haɪ! maɪ neɪm ɪz ɛllə.]
I'm a math teacher who really loves learning. When I'm not teaching, you can find me hiking, DMing a game of Dungeons and Dragons, or working my way through IMDb's Top 100 Movies list. This year I'm learning hot yoga and brushing up on my spoken Spanish and Japanese.

My journey towards becoming a math educator has taken some twists and turns. After graduating from the University of California San Diego with a degree in Linguistics, I had planned to live overseas for a few years, but due to the pandemic I instead started teaching English to foreign exchange students in San Diego. That was when I discovered my passion for teaching. In the classroom, I could share my love of learning and see it transform the lives and hearts of my students. I took the next step in my teaching career with the San Diego Teacher Residency Program at High Tech High's Graduate School of Education to pursue my Master's of Education and my California Single Subject Teaching Credential in a subject I love, and that I feel best embodies the pure joy of creativity, learning, and problem-solving: mathematics! I currently teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math at King-Chavez Academy of Excellence in Barrio Logan.
